Indianapolis Officer Arrested On Drug Dealing And Possession Charges

(INDIANAPOLIS) - An officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is among three suspects arrested on preliminary charges of dealing and possessing cocaine in connection with an ongoing drug investigation.

Thirty-five-year-old Nikolas Layton, a 10-year veteran with the department and son of Marion County Sheriff John Layton, faces preliminary charges including suspicion of dealing in cocaine, conspiracy to deal cocaine, dealing in a controlled substance, and possession of cocaine.

He was arrested Tuesday along with 33-year-old Christopher Reed and 41-year-old Victoria Purdy.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Troy Riggs has suspended Layton without pay and plans to recommend he be terminated.
