(COLUMBUS) - A partnership between Ivy Tech Community College and the Columbus Municipal Airport will expand Ivy Tech’s agriculture program with a new, hands-on opportunity for students to grow and retail popcorn.
Ivy Tech Spokesman Chris Schilling told WKKG that the city's Board of Aviation Commissioners has agreed to rent two-acres of airport-owned farmland at a minimum cost to grow the crop this spring.
Schilling says that the two-acre site is located west of the LHP Corporation building at Central Avenue and Poshard Drive in Columbus. Ivy Tech students, along with faculty, will be responsible for all phases of the project.
