(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police took a teenager into custody Thursday morning after they say he stole a car and crashed it into a tree outside a southside home.
This happened around 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the 6500 block of Yellowstone Parkway. Police said the 14-year-old suspect crashed the car and then ran off, prompting a search involving K-9 units. Photos from a neighbor showed the car erupting into flames after the crash.
Indianapolis Metropolitan police said the car was warming up when it was stolen.
Police arrested the teen at the Kroger store located at 1330 Southport Road. Officers had told area businesses to watch for a teenager wearing all red.
