(JEFFERSONVILLE) - A 16-year-old has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old in Clark County.
Authorities responded to reports of a shooting at a home near Charlestown at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday and found the 14-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel said at a press conference Wednesday night that investigators have determined that the 16-year-old was responsible in the shooting.
The suspect was preliminarily charged with reckless homicide and possession of a firearm. Clark County Prosecutor Jeremy Mull will decide whether the suspect will face additional charges, and whether he or she will be tried as a juvenile or an adult.
The News and Tribune reports that the names of the victim and suspect haven't been released.
