(EVANSVILLE) - An Evansville firefighter is in the Vanderburgh County Jail on rape and criminal confinement charges.
According to the sheriff's office, 42-year-old Michael Loveless and the victim lived together. The incident reportedly stemmed after the victim tried to end the relationship with Loveless.
Loveless allegedly threatened the victim and pulled the trigger of an unloaded gun that was pointed at his own head.
The victim reportedly grabbed the gun and threw it from a window while Loveless was attempting to load the magazine with ammo. The victim also reported she was raped by Loveless during the incident.
The victim reported the incident to the sheriff's office after she convinced Loveless to let her leave.
Loveless was arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail.
