(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Legislature is considering placing hunting preserves under tighter regulations. A bill has passed out of the Senate, requiring new canned hunting preserves to be at least 100 acres with fences at least eight feet high, and requires reporting of disease and escape.
Right now there are six hunting preserves in the state.
Speaking on WVUT's 'Meet Your Legislators', Eric Bassler said there had to be some regulation on these facilities since they continue to grow in Indiana.
Tom Washburne feels the hunting facilities create sport, and even more safety than hunting in the wild.
Bruce Borders says he doesn't have a problem with the caged deer operations as long as the deer are treated humanely.
