(VIGO CO.) - A Vigo County jail inmate was critically injured Friday when he jumped from the third floor of the Vigo County courthouse rotunda to the first floor.
41-year-old Charles Maffioli of Terre Haute underwent emergency surgery for a collapsed lung and several broken bones.
He had just appeared in court on various drug charges.
His hands and feet were chained at the time.
