(EVANSVILLE) - Allegiant Airlines says it’s coming to Evansville and will offer non-stop service to Orlando, Florida.
Three airlines, American, Airlines and Delta, currently operate out of Evansville Regional Airport. Allegiant would be the fourth.
Allegiant already flies out of the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport.
The airline says the year-round flights from Evansville will land at the Orlando-Sanford International Airport. That's about 30 miles from the larger Orlando International Airport.
The flights will operate twice a week and will begin on June 2. Allegiant says one-way ticket fares will start around $59. We're told ticket prices will eventually increase to about $78.
Airline officials say Owensboro flights to Orlando-Sanford are scheduled for Monday and Friday. Evansville flights will be Thursday and Sunday
According to a news release, Evansville's airport director says Florida is a popular destination for local travelers and they are pleased to welcome the airline.
