(COLUMBUS) - A Columbus Councilman was arrested on one count of indecent exposure after an investigation by Indiana State Police.
Police cited into court 61-year-old Dascal D. Bunch. He has been ordered to appear in Superior Court II before Judge Kitty Coriden on Monday, April 4 at 11 a.m.
According to Indiana State Police Detective Chris Howell, troopers began their investigation on January 17 when the Indiana State Police was contacted by the Columbus Police Department to investigate the case due to the suspect being a councilman for the City of Columbus.
Charges in this case against Bunch stem from three separate incidents in which Bunch allegedly exposed himself through uncovered windows in his residence to people who could easily view him through the windows from outside and from neighboring houses. The incidents which occurred in March and November of 2015 and January 12th of this year led to charges being filed this week.
Due to Bunch's position on the city council, Special Prosecutor Brian Belding, Jennings County Prosecutor's Office, was assigned as the prosecutor in this case. After the case was reviewed by Prosecutor Belding, charges were then filed in the Bartholomew County Superior Court.
Police say it is typical in lower level misdemeanor cases for suspects to be issued summons to appear, rather than warrants to be issued for arrest.
