(ST. HENRY) - High winds downed a utility pole Saturday night landing on a parked car causing the downed line to arch catching the vehicle on fire.
St. Henry Volunteer Fire Department Chief Steve Eckert says firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 6:30 p.m.
The downed wire caused the entire car to become electrically-charged.
All four tires on the car also ignited and burned which then melted the car's front bumper.
Firefighters used a dry fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire.
Huntingburg electric crews disconnect the downed lines which allowed firefighters to then safely extinguish the fire.
The car is owned by Shawn White and was parked in her driveway on South 200 West just west of St. Henry. The family was not home when the fire started.
