(MICHIGAN CITY) - Six Indiana Conservation Officers in Northwest Indiana received training and supplies from Fagen Pharmacy to respond to Opiod overdoses in their patrol areas.
The officers recognized a need within their communities and with approval from the DNR Law Enforcement Training Section, sought out training to carry the overdose reversing drug Naloxone.
The training and supplies were obtained from the combined efforts of Fagen Pharmacy, the Porter County Community Foundation, Porter Regional Hospital and Indiana Conservation Officers. In the event an Indiana Conservation Officer administers the material, it will be replaced as needed at no cost to the department.
Indiana Conservation Officers are first responders and often respond to medical emergencies on both private and public properties. This training and equipment is another tool for Conservation Officers to further serve their communities and save lives.
