(GIBSON CO.) - When a fire broke out at a family’s home in Southern Indiana, firefighters went above and beyond and tried to save more than their house.
WFIE reports, the Gibson County Fire Department helped save a teenage girl's prom night, too.
Firefighters ran back inside without thinking, grabbed the dress and told the family they'd try to save it.
Firefighters took the dress to a local dry cleaner, but smoke damage had ruined it.
So, the firefighters contacted a dress store that gave Kaylor a new prom dress in the same color.
"I have two girls at home so, ya know, it hits ya a little bit because you know that you're helping someone," said firefighter Justin Hyneman. "It's a great thing, a great feeling."
Kaylor and her date went to prom this past weekend.
Other local businesses chipped in, too, providing Kaylor with dinner and a spray tan.
