(LOGANSPORT) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a tree stand accident that occurred Saturday morning at approximately 9 a.m. in the area of 7928 E and 450 N Logansport.
Officers say, 53-year-old Jeff Mow of Logansport was removing one of his tree stands from a property when the straps around the tree broke. Mow was not wearing a tree stand harness and fell approximately 16 feet.
Mow was unable to call for help through 911 but was able to contact retired Conservation Officer Brenda Louthain who then contacted Cass County 911 dispatch.
Responders on scene located Mow at the base of the tree and transported him by ATV to a field where he was flown to South Bend Memorial hospital with serious injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
