(TERRE HAUTE) - Vigo County court documents show a Registered Nurse was arrested at the end of April for sexual misconduct with a minor.
Court documents show 36-year-old Cori Atkinson was arrested on April 29 after officials had good cause to believe she committed sexual misconduct with a minor on or around the date of March 22. Officials were told by Atkinson's husband that she is a Registered Nurse who works 'delivering babies.'
Terre Haute Regional Hospital confirmed with News 10 that Atkinson is no longer an employee there.
This investigation began when Atkinson's daughter and husband went to the Terre Haute Police Department to report Atkinson was making her daughter 'do things she did not want to do for about a year.' The probable cause states Atkinson's daughter was dating a 15-year-old male.
Court documents show over the course of the year, Atkinson bought her daughter and boyfriend, as well as the boyfriend's mother, food, clothing and other items including presents at Christmas time. Officials report an estimated $60,000 was spent on her daughter's boyfriend and the boyfriend's mother.
Officials report the boyfriend's mother thought Atkinson was "pushing the relationship on the kids because there were a couple of incidents where [Atkinson's daughter] was done with the relationship. [The boyfriend's mother] said Atkinson wanted [her daughter] to be with him so badly; Atkinson would do whatever she could to make sure she stayed with [him]."
It was in mid-April when the boyfriend's mother told THPD that her son had told her he had sex with Atkinson. She also told police she had confronted Atkinson herself, who admitted it as well and said she was sorry.
Atkinson is currently in the Vigo County Jail on a $25,000 bond with no 10 percent allowed. A trial date has been set for Oct. 24.
