(ELKHART CO.) - The Indiana State Police is seeking help from the public in identifying the individual or individuals that are responsible for throwing items off the County Road 19 overpass onto the Indiana Toll Road in Bristol.
Shortly before midnight, on Friday April 22, troopers from the Toll Road Post were dispatched to the 97.1 mile marker for a report of several vehicles that had been damaged by items that were thrown from the County Road 19 overpass.
Troopers arrived to find four vehicles that were damaged from objects thrown from the overpass and a 17-year-old juvenile that was injured in the incident. The juvenile, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
Troopers recovered several items from the scene to include chunks of concrete, a white mail box, and a gallon container of windshield washer fluid.
The person or persons involved in this incident could face level 5 felony charges for overpass mischief, commented detective Mike Robinson. It's unfortunate that senseless acts like this even happen. Everyone involved in this incident is lucky that it didn't lead to a crash or anymore injuries, remarked Robinson.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Indiana State Police Toll Road Post at 574-206-2931
