(COLUMBUS) - A 13-year-old girl was arrested after Columbus Police caught her driving an SUV without a driver’s license. Police also say two of her underage passengers were drunk.
Police got a call about a possible intoxicated driver at around 3:40 a.m. Tuesday. They located the white Chevy Blazer southbound on Taylor Road near County Road 300 North. The Blazer hit a curb as it turned into the entrance of a subdivision.
The officer noticed that the driver switched seats with another passenger after stopping, and that the teenager in the driver's seat had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. The 17-year-old in the driver's seat blew .088 percent on a breath test. A back seat passenger, an 18-year-old from Taylorsville, blew .017 percent.
Both teens were arrested.
The girl who had been driving passed a breath alcohol test but was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without license. The remaining two passengers, both juveniles, were released to their parents at the scene.
