(CARROLL CO.) - The health department in a northwest Indiana county says it has confirmed several cases of whooping cough.
The Carroll County Health Department told the Lafayette Journal & Courier, two adults and an infant have the illness. The infant has been hospitalized and the adults work at a local courthouse.
At least two more people also may have the illness.
Whooping cough is a highly contagious respiratory illness characterized by fever, coughing and other symptoms, and many who have the illness also develop pneumonia.
