(ELLETTSVILLE) - A fire destroyed a garage and damaged a home Saturday in the 4670 block of West Woodyard Road in Ellettsville.
Ellettsville firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 2:26 p.m.
Lieutenant Chris Clouse says the fire spread from the detached garage to the house before firefighters arrived.
The garage was a total loss and the house had major damage.
One person was on the property when the fire started, but was not in either building.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Clouse believes the fire was caused by an electrical generator.
Assisting the Ellettsville Fire Department was Van Buren and Bloomington Township fire departments, Monroe County Sheriff and ambulance services. Bean Blossom Township and Stinesville Fire Departments also assisted by covering the Ellettsville station while units were at the fire.
