(LOON PIT) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a boat that capsized in Loon Pit at Bluegrass FWA.
On Sunday, at approximately 3:18 p.m., 42-year-old Legra Swope of Newburgh was fishing with his 13-year-old son at Loon Pit when their fishing line became entangled in the electric trolling motor.
Swope reached over and attempted to untangle the fishing line, which caused the 12-foot jon boat to tip causing them to fall into the water. Even though the boat was swamped, it remained afloat.
Two kayakers assisted Swope and his son by transporting them back to shore. Swope and his son did not sustain any injuries from the incident.
Swope and his son were not wearing life jackets at the time; however they did have them accessible inside their boat.
Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage the use of life jackets while enjoying any activity out on the water.
The boat was recovered by Indiana Conservation Officers and the Boonville Fire Department.
Responding agencies included Indiana Conservation Officers, Boonville Fire Department, Warrick County EMS, and the Warrick County Sheriff's Department.
