(HANCOCK) - The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department is looking into the death of two-month-old child.
According to the HCSD, they received a call just before noon Wednesday of an unresponsive child, who was not breathing.
The child's mother, 26-year-old Deanna VanMeter, made the call after finding her child in that state.
VanMeter did perform life-saving maneuvers until emergency crews made it to the scene.
The child was then rushed to the Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. At the hospital, further attempts were made to save the child's life. However, the efforts by staff at the hospital were unsuccessful.
The child's death remains under investigation.
An autopsy will be performed by the Hancock County Coroner's Office in order to determine cause of death.
