(CLARK CO.) - On Friday, evening around 5:50 p.m., Trooper Zach Smith made a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 31 near Eastern Blvd. in Clark County which netted the discovery of 13 pounds of marijuana.
During the course of the traffic stop reasonable suspicion was developed that criminal activity was afoot. Trooper Smith deployed ISP K-9 "Riggs" and the K-9 showed interest in the car, a 2015 Toyota Sienna, for possible criminal activity.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed approximately 13 pounds of marijuana. The marijuana was vacuumed sealed in plastic bags. The bags were concealed within cardboard beer boxes located in the rear cargo area of the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle, 38-year-old Daren Ngo, from Jeffersonville, was arrested on felony charges of dealing in marijuana over 10 pounds, possession of marijuana over 10 pounds and maintaining a common nuisance, He was incarcerated at the Clark County Jail.
The street value of the seized marijuana is estimated at over $13,000 in U.S. dollars.
