(UNDATED) - Thousands of AT&T customers will be getting a refund over the next three months.
The federal government is ordering the company to pay $7.75 million.
It comes after AT&T reportedly allowed scammers to charge its customers $9 a month for a directory service that didn't exist.
Investigators think the scam mostly targeted small businesses.
AT&T says it will refund the customers within 90 days.
