(TERRE HAUTE) - Sarah Scott students on Wednesday were transferred to Riley Elementary as experts begin to remove bats from the school building.
This comes after the Vigo County Health Department advised the Vigo County School Corporation that all students, faculty and staff be removed from the school until all of the bats can be removed.
To make sure the transition went smooth, students who typically would ride the bus to school will continue to do so, but they will just be taken to Riley Elementary instead of Sarah Scott.
And for students who would normally walk to school, they were to report to Sarah Scott by 7:30 a.m. and then bused to Riley from there. Administrators with the Vigo County School Corporation were on scene to help load multiple buses.
Sack breakfasts and sack lunches were provided for Sarah Scott students at Riley Elementary.
Superintendent Danny Tanoos stated the company that specializes in the removal of bats began clearing the bats from the building Wednesday morning. They estimate it will take between seven to 14 days to complete the action.
