(BALL STATE) - The public is invited to a symposium on Saturday at Ball State University to learn about public archaeology.
The DNR Division of Historic Preservation & Archaeology (DHPA) and Ball State University's Applied Anthropology Laboratories are hosting the second annual Indiana Public Archaeology Symposium.
Public archaeology is the practice of engaging the public in archaeology by sharing archaeological findings and promoting stewardship of cultural resources.
Topics will include public archaeology success stories, unique ways of engaging the public, and how technology is changing the way archaeologists interact with the public. The Indiana Archaeology Council (IAC) will present about recent archaeological research in Indiana.
This event is free. Presentations will start at 9 a.m. in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center, Cardinal Hall.
In lieu of a registration fee, a voluntary silent auction will benefit the Archaeology Preservation Trust Fund, Leon Hostettler Fund, and the Making Archaeology Public Project.
