(VIGO CO.) - Monday at 5:20 p.m., Indiana State Police and Vigo County emergency agencies responded to a multi-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of US 41 at Pimento Circle.
The crash injured two occupants and caused the death of another.
Preliminary investigation revealed a red 2011 Chevrolet 4-door, driven by 86-year-old, Carolyn L. Vanwey, of Robinson, Illinois, was southbound on US 41 and attempted a left turn to proceed eastbound on Pimento Circle. In doing so, she drove into the path of a northbound 2003 Jeep, driven by 19-year-old Allyssa M. Angel of Terre Haute, IN. The Jeep struck the Chevrolet in the passenger side and caused the Chevrolet to strike a blue 2012 Toyota sedan, driven by 46-year-old Andrew J. Moshos of Brazil, IN, that was stopped westbound on Pimento Circle at US 41.
Carolyn Vanwey was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital with internal injuries. Her husband, 85-year-old Donald L. Tuttle of Robinson, IL., was pronounced dead at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Allyssa Angel was transported by family to Union Hospital in Terre Haute for treatment of arm pain. Andrew Moshos reported no injuries.
The crash was investigated by ISP Trooper Nicole Cheeks. Assisting were multiple ISP troopers, Vigo County Sheriff's deputies, Terre Haute Police officers, Honey Creek Fire/Rescue, Linton Township Fire/Rescue, Pierson Township Fire/Rescue, Trans Care EMS, and the Vigo County Coroner's Office.
