(ADAM CO.) - The Indiana State Police is investigating the death of a man from Geneva who was incarcerated in the Adams County Jail and who found unresponsive in his cell early Wednesday morning.
According to Detective Clint Hetrick, at approximately 4:17 a.m. and during a routine cell check, Adams County confinement officers found 38 year old Jeremy H. Oswalt unconscious in his cell. Upon entering the cell to render aid, officers found that Oswalt exhibited shallow breathing and was unresponsive.
An ambulance arrived five minutes later and transported Oswalt to Adams County Memorial Hospital where he later died. The State Police was then contacted at the request of the Adams County Sheriff to conduct an investigation.
An autopsy was conducted early this afternoon in Fort Wayne, and according to a preliminary report by the Adams County Coroner, Oswalt's death was due to natural causes.
