(MORGAN CO.) - Monday afternoon an alert Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement trooper stopped a gold Toyota Sienna minivan for following too close on eastbound Interstate 70 near the 52 mile marker.
During conversation with the driver, the trooper noticed possible indicators of criminal activity.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of approximately 1,400 counterfeit clothing items believed to be destined for fall festivals in Indiana and Ohio.
The items included gloves, hats, and jackets manufactured in China and displayed the logos of North Face and UGG. The street value of the items is estimated at $70,000. Both North Face and UGG companies will be contacted by the trooper to make them aware of this event.
Police arrested 39-year-old Jian Ye of Flushing, New York on a Level 6 felony charge of counterfeiting and he was taken to the Morgan County Jail.
