(CONNERSVILLE) - Police say they believe a body that a farmer found in an eastern Indiana cornfield is a woman missing for almost two weeks.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday afternoon that a farmer harvesting corn came to stop when he found the body. Authorities preliminarily identified the woman was 34-year-old Danielle Holt of Connersville. An autopsy is planned Wednesday.
The (Richmond) Palladium-Item reports that Holt has been missing since Oct. 20, when the sheriff's department responded to a call at her home for an alleged domestic dispute. Police said she fled through the back of the home even after deputies offered her a ride elsewhere. Police said she did not threaten to harm herself or appear under the influence.
Police said their investigation remains open.
