Indiana Conservation Officers Investigating Hunting Incident Causing Injury In Allen County

(WOODBURN) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a hunting incident that occurred on Sunday at approximately 3:50 p.m.

Officers say 21-year-old Amanda M. Wetli of Albion was hunting for deer near the 2400 block of River Road, when while attempting to climb into a ladder tree stand, she dropped the single shot 16 gauge shotgun that she was carrying.

Wetli was shot in the left arm when she attempted to catch the falling firearm.

Wetli was airlifted by Samaritan Air to Parkview Regional Medical Center Fort Wayne.

Her condition is not available at this time.

Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted by the Allen County Sheriff's Department, Woodburn Fire Department, Woodburn EMS and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
