(WARSAW) - A northern Indiana man has been arrested and charged with killing his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter whose body was found buried in a shallow grave.
Police say they were called to a home northeast of Warsaw on custody complaint Thursday night. They say 29-year-old Christopher A. Grimmett told them he had been babysitting Adalin P. Stamper and the girl's grandmother had picked her up.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Chad Hill said deputies back tracked Grimmett's activities and found the girl buried in a shallow grave in the back yard of a home in Warsaw.
Hill says the cause of the girl's death is pending autopsy results. Grimmett is held at the Kosciusko County jail.
A message seeking comment left at an address for Grimmett in Warsaw wasn't immediately returned.
