(INDIANAPOLIS) - Lawyers for the state of Indiana say a $31 million dollar wrongful prosecution verdict has no tie to reality.
But a federal judge says the price tag is just right for accusing a couple of killing their daughter back in 2005.
The state is now asking a federal appeals court to step in.
The case stems from actions taken by the Indiana State Police and the Department of Child Services surrounding Roman and Lynnette Finnegan.
Investigators say Lynnette Finnegan she killed her daughter and they even took her other children. But the state dropped the charges years later and admit a doctor's mistake killed the child.
