(VINCENNES) - The Vincennes University Funeral Service Education program has been granted full accreditation for seven years, as announced by the American Board of Funeral Service Education - Commission on Accreditation (ABFSE-COA).
Seven years is the maximum accreditation length granted by the ABFSE-COA. As part its report, the COA noted many strengths of VU's Funeral Service Education program, including its leadership by Russell Ort, chair of Funeral Service Education, and Dr. Jana Vieck, dean of the College of Health Sciences and Human Performance.
The VU Funeral Service Education program has been offered since 1975.
Ort joined the as its chair in August 2015. A licensed funeral director, Ort holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in Psychology. He has almost 30 years of experience in the funeral service industry, case management experience to families for marriage and relationship recovery and having taught anatomy and physiology.
His wife, Karen, is the manager of internal medicine clinics in Jasper and Ferdinand.
