(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, today issued the following statement regarding news reports that President Donald Trump has removed the Director of National Intelligence from the National Security Council Principals Committee, the senior interagency body of the national security process:
"Our nation will be best served with Dan Coats by the President's side as national security policies are developed and implemented. Senator Coats has worked on these issues throughout his career in public service and has a deep understanding of the diverse threats facing our country. My hope is that President Trump will follow past precedent and make certain the Director of National Intelligence is in the room when major national security decisions are made by his administration."
