(DUBOIS) - A single vehicle crash just south of Dubois on December 29th took the life of a Jasper man.
Just before midnight Thursday, 50-year-old Frederick Block of Jasper was traveling southbound on Jasper-Dubois Road, just north of County Road 300 North (approximately one mile south of Dubois), in his 1992 Oldsmobile. Block failed to go around a curve in the road, and drove off of the roadway into the ditch line off of the west side of the road. Block continued south until it struck an earth embankment, causing Block to be ejected from the vehicle through the windshield.
Block was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dubois County Coroner.
The crash remains under investigation by Indiana State Police crash reconstructionists.
State Police was assisted at the scene by the Dubois County Sheriff's Department, Dubois Volunteer Fire Department, Memorial Hospital EMS, and the Dubois County Coroner's Office.
