(VAMILLION CO.) - A fire Thursday night destroyed Indiana’s oldest wooden grandstand at the Vermillion County Fairgrounds.
The fire started between 8 p.m. and 8:10 p.m.
Firefighter from Cayuga, Newport, Dana and Perrysville Fire Departments responded to battle the blaze. Wind gusts created some concerns. Firefighters spent several hours battling the blaze.
Officials have not released a cause, but say it does appear to be suspicious because no electricity was connected to the grandstands.
No one was injured.
The fairgrounds are located on Maple Street which is just off State Road 63 in northern Vermillion County.
