(GREENCASTLE) - Indiana State Police detectives from the Putnamville Post continue to investigate a domestic disturbance shooting incident at 6400 N. C.R. 490 West Greencastle, involving a male suspect and a Putnam County sheriff’s deputy.
The male alleged pointed a firearm at one deputy causing another deputy to discharge two rounds striking the male in the torso. The suspect is currently undergoing extensive treatment at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Many interviews related to this case are ongoing at this time. The female involved and her three-year old twins are doing well and no other information related to them will be released.
The suspect has been identified as 35-year-old Adam B. Wagner, who lived in the home. He is also the father of the toddlers.
The deputy involved in the shooting has been identified as 21-year-old Jeffery L. Freeman, a nine month member of the department and a recent graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
The other two deputies involved, but did not fire weapons, were 32-year-old Anthony J. Brown, a nearly sixteen month member deputy of the department and 22-year-old Special Deputy Ian Zeffel, a nearly six week veteran of the agency.
Wagner's weapon appears to be a replica 1911 semi-auto handgun; however, to determine the exact specifications of the weapon, it will be examined by the ISP Laboratory.
No other information will be released at this time. Upon completion of the ISP investigation, which will be a few days, the report will be submitted to Putnam County Prosecutor Timothy Bookwalter for review of the incident and any potential charges.
