(MADISON CO.) - An Indianapolis man and woman were arrested late Friday evening after the stolen truck they were driving broke down on I-69.
On Friday, just before midnight, Trooper Jason Girt was sent to check on a report of a disabled Dodge Pickup on I-69 south bound around the 216 mile marker.
When Girt arrived he found a male driver, with a female passenger, who said the truck was out of gas. Girt agreed to take then to a nearby station, but after doing some further investigation, found the truck they had been driving was reported stolen from Cloverdale on January 25.
The man and woman, who had no I.D. on their person, were later identified as 37-year-old Michael Arthur and 36-year-old Shaanna Howell, both of Indianapolis. Both were lodged in the Madison County Jail for theft of a vehicle, Level 6 felony. In addition Howell was found to be wanted on warrants out of Vigo County and Marion County.
Girt was assisted at the scene by Trooper Brad Tucker.
