(RICHMOND) - Authorities say vandalism to the plumbing system at an Indiana jail forced the temporary relocation of several prisoners.
The (Richmond) Palladium-Item reports the vandalism caused thousands of dollars in damage. Wayne County Sheriff Jeff Cappa says at least one inmate housed in the women's cell block used pieces of fabric and other materials to clog the toilet system on January 6.
Cappa says repairs took place within a few days. Cappa says the inmates were moved to an open cell block while repairs were made.
The clogged system created bad odors. Cappa says jail cameras aren't directed at individual cells, which makes it difficult to investigate.
