(VINCENNES) - A new Vincennes University scholarship has been established through a donation from the family of Cheryl Minderman Wilber.
The Cheryl Minderman Wilber Memorial Scholarship was created through the VU Foundation.
Wilber grew up on the Allison Prairie, between Lawrenceville, Ill., and Vincennes, and was a 1977 graduate of VU's Physical Therapy Assistant program. She was passionate about helping others through physical therapy, especially when she worked with children. While she lived with lupus for over 25 years, she used her love of family, especially her husband Richard and son Eric, and her profession to stay motivated to the end. Wilber passed away on November 6, 2013.
The scholarship which bears her name will provide funds for VU students enrolled in the Physical Therapy Assistant program who maintain a 2.0 grade point average.
"The VU Foundation and Alumni Association are appreciative of the Wilber family and their support of VU," stated Jennifer Gilmore, director of the VU Alumni Association. "This scholarship in memory and honor of Mrs. Wilber will be a tremendous benefit to our students."
