(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Commission on Improving the Status of Children in Indiana continues its work with a three-year strategic plan, newly named Chairperson, and 2017 meeting schedule. Details are available online at www.in.gov/children.
Senator Erin Houchin will serve as the Chairperson for 2017. The Commission's three-year strategic plan has also been announced. It includes establishing four task forces which will have co-chairpersons, some are yet to be named:
The Commission developed a mobile-friendly information sharing guide to serve as a statewide policy standard for sharing information for professionals working with children.
Commission meetings take place in the Indiana Government Center South from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and are open to the public. The following is the 2017 schedule:
The Commission was established in 2013 as a multi-branch entity with the aim of improving the status of children in Indiana. It studies issues concerning vulnerable youth; reviews and makes recommendations concerning pending legislation; and promotes information sharing and best practices.
