(UNDATED) - The Pollinator Partnership and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have joined forces to launch the Monarch Wings Across the Eastern Broadleaf Forest Project and they need your help!
The Project is seed collecting throughout the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Arkansas and Missouri.
The groups are looking for enthusiastic seed collecting volunteers in all 5 states to help identify and collect milkweed and other common nectar plants.
As a seed collecting volunteer you will be provided with training and be making
valuable contributions to supporting migrating monarchs.
Every place outside, rural or urban, can become an oasis for monarchs and other pollinators.
The group is looking for everyone - including schools, youth and community groups, businesses, state and local governments.
You can make a difference by planting milkweed and nectar plants native to your local area and gardening organically to minimize your impact on native plants.
We also need to protect important monarch habitat along roadsides, rights of way, and other public and private lands.
By becoming a citizen scientist and monitoring monarchs in your area, you can help educate others about pollinators, conservation and how they can get involved.
No seed collecting experience is required but basic plant knowledge is preferred.
Training and seed collection will start this year.
