(DUBOIS CO.) - Meth and hypodermic needles were found during a Sunday afternoon traffic stop on Interstate 64 at the Ferdinand exit.
At 3:55 p.m,. Sunday, Trooper Brock Werne was patrolling the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 near the 63 mile marker (Ferdinand exit) when he observed a blue Ford F-150 pickup truck commit numerous traffic violations. Werne followed the vehicle off of the interstate and onto State Road 162, where he conducted a traffic stop.
While speaking with the driver, 37-year-old Bradley Heichelbech of Fort Branch, Werne asked Senior Trooper Robbie Lambert to bring his K-9 partner Diesel to the scene for an open air search. Diesel gave an indication of narcotics being present inside the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, Werne located what was believed to be over two ounces of meth and three hypodermic needles. Werne also learned that Heichelbech had just used meth an hour prior to being pulled over.
Heichelbech was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of a hypodermic syringe and maintaining a common nuisance and taken to the Dubois County Security Center.
