(WASHINGTON, DC) - Tuesday, Congressman André Carson, (D-Indianapolis) introduced legislation to officially recognize the last day of February as Rare Disease Day.
Currently, one in 10 Americans suffer from a rare disease, the majority of which are children. For too many, this struggle will last a lifetime.
Congressman André Carson introduced this legislation to help raise awareness and improve treatments for those living with a rare disease. This Resolution highlights the continued need for education, research and treatment for patients and families affected with these conditions.
"Rare diseases are diseases that affect fewer than 200,000 Americans, many of them Hoosiers," said Congressman André Carson. "It is my hope that this resolution will bring attention to those individuals who face unique obstacles to care and help renew efforts to find the treatments and cures that they need."
