(UNDATED) - Because of poor sales, appliance and electronics retailer HHGregg is closing 88 stores and three distribution sites.
The Indianapolis-based chain says the closings should be completed by mid-April and result in about 1,500 layoffs.
The chief executive officer of HHGregg released a statement saying the company is leaving markets and stores that are not financially profitable.
The announcement follows the New York Stock Exchange move to delist HHGregg for its failure to meet the minimum listing requirements.
