(CAMP ATTERBURY) - A Camp Atterbury spokesman says that 43-year-old Capt. Brian A. Stillman was participating in the base’s land navigation training when he collapsed and died at about 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Bartholomew County Deputy Coroner Jay Frederick says Stillman died from natural causes.
An autopsy shows the death was caused by a heart attack.
Stillman was from Norton, Ohio and was a 19-year-member of the Ohio National Guard. He was operations officer for the 2nd Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Camp Atterbury is Indiana's largest military facility, encompassing more than 35,000 acres. It hosts training for thousands of reserve and active duty troops each year, including rifle and pistol ranges, assault courses, bombing ranges and simulators for vehicle, ground and combat medical situations.
