(UNDATED) - More Americans are losing their hearing. A new study says hearing loss among adults 20 and older is expected to increase from 44 million in 2020 to more than 73 million by 2060.
Researchers from Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore say 55 percent of adults with hearing loss will be 70 or older in 2020 and that will jump to 67 percent by 2060.
Older adults who suffer from hearing loss have higher rates of depression, anxiety, hospitalization, and falls.
Doctors say there's also evidence of a tie between hearing loss and mental decline.
