(UNDATED) - Rates of new diagnosed cases of type 1 and type 2 diabetes are increasing among U.S. youth, according to a report from the National Institutes of Health.
Across the nation, about 208,000 people under age 20 are living with diagnosed diabetes, NIH said.
Also, the rate of new cases of type 1 diabetes increased more annually from 2003 to 2012 in males (2.2%) than in females (1.4%); and, new cases of type 2 diabetes rose more sharply in females (6.2%) than males (3.7%).
