(JASPER) - A Jasper man was sentenced to 40 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of attempted murder and other charges.
A Jasper Superior Court jury says Casey Myers attacked his now ex-wife Kristen Myers in their home back on December 15, 2015.
In addition to attempted murder, Myers was found guilty of strangulation, two counts of intimidation, and one count of misdemeanor domestic battery.
The Dubois County Free Press reports that Myers says he attacked his estranged wife with a serrated kitchen knife in a Jasper home. During the trial, prosecutors described the horrific scene first responders found when they entered the home and worked to save her life.
According to court records, Myers was also sentenced to two years for the strangulation charge, two years for each of the charges of intimidation, a year for the domestic battery charge. All will be served concurrently except one of the intimidation sentences which will be served consecutively.
