(FARMERSBURG) - Indiana Conservation Officers arrested 24-year-old Jay Wycoff of West Terre Haute after they found that he was driving a stolen vehicle.
The incident Friday afternoon after Sullivan County Sheriff's Department dispatched a call of a stolen vehicle being sighted by its owner on U.S. 41 in Farmersburg.
Indiana Conservation Officers responded to the call, and found the stolen vehicle parked and the driver had fled on foot into a wooded area.
An Indiana Conservation Officer K-9 unit tracked Wycoff for approximately one mile before he surrendered after being surrounded by multiple law enforcement agencies.
The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner.
The Indiana Conservation Officer's K-9 unit also recovered drug paraphernalia discarded by Wycoff during the search.
Vigo County Sheriff's Department, Sullivan County Sheriff's Department, Indiana Excise Police, and Indiana State Police, and Farmersburg Fire Department assisted at the scene.
