(GIBSON CO.) - A Remington man died Sunday from Injuries he received in a crash on U.S. 41 at County Road 100 West Saturday.
According to the Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office, 20-year-old Devin Cyr of Remington died Sunday morning at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
On Saturday at 3:08 p.m., Indiana State Police and several other law enforcement agencies responded to a three vehicle crash on U.S. 41 at CR 100 West that critically injured Cyr.
Preliminary investigation revealed two vehicles were stopped at a traffic signal on US 41 southbound at CR 100 West.
66-year-old Kent Hayenga of Linn Grove, IA was traveling southbound when for unknown reasons failed to stop and collided into the rear of the two stopped vehicles.
The tractor-trailer initially collided into a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor driven by Cyr and then into a 2016 Ford Fiesta driven by 22-year-old Dylan Barnes of Mt. Carmel, IL.
Cyr was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by Princeton Fire Department. He was taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville with life threatening injuries.
Barnes was taken to St. Vincent Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Hayenga was not injured.
The Ford Fiesta and Mitsubishi Endeavor were totaled.
U.S. 41 southbound was closed for approximately three hours while troopers investigated this crash.
The investigation is continuing.
